Opening of the World Championship among young horses in Lanaken

The FEI WBFSH World Championships for Young Horses began this Thursday at the Zangersheide Stud in Lanaken with the first qualifying events for five, six and seven year old horses.



For five-year-olds, this event was held behind Table A with no time trials and 99 of the 242 starters completed the course without penalty points. The Selle Français horses were not particularly successful, as only two of the sixteen at the start succeeded in clean rounds: Hold Up Denfer (I’m Special de Muze x Diamant de Semilly) and Cyrielle Deboffle, as well as Hector de Kezeg (Diamant de Semilly x Vas Y Donc Longane) with Morgane Dasio for Switzerland. Two French riders also handle Z horses: Max Tirouin on Chavez Z (Cicero Z x Chellano Z) and Christel Boulard on Dido Bois Blanc Z (Diamant de Semilly x Calido)

276 starts and 90 double clean rounds in six-year-old qualifying are played in two stages. The victory goes to the Holstein stallion Cannandillo (Kannan x Candillo) ridden by the Greek Angelos Tulupis. He is ahead of Oldenburg’s Keatingstown Mister Cool (Messenger) with Irish Susan Fitzpatrick and Selle Italian Bluegiu’ (Benitus di Vallerano) ridden by Italian Stefano Valzini. Good fourth place for mare Gaia du Boderie (Kannan x Arc de Triomphe) with Brazilian Thiago Ribas da Costa. Grégoire Ercelin also had a great performance, finishing eighth with Gutchi de Moyon (Rock’n Roll Semilly x Diams du Grasset). In the qualifying match for seven-year-olds, which also consisted of two stages, 43 out of 190 participants reached the double clean round. Belgian Thibaut Philippaerts defeats Crystal Claire (SWB, Cristallo I x Oklund), who is several tenths ahead of Dutchman Bas Moerings with Kivinia (KWPN, I’m Special de Muze x Calido I), followed by Qu DC (SI , Quod DC x Gratus DC, run by Italian Graziano Tazzi.
